International Kite and Sweet Festival set to kick off in Parade Grounds
The International Kite and Sweet Festival begins at Secunderabad Parade Ground from January 13–15, featuring international and national kite flyers, traditional sweets from across India, and stalls for handicrafts. Hot air balloon and drone festivals follow later in January

Hyderabad: Colossal and colourful kites in the sky, and a spread of sweets from different States on the ground are set to take over Secunderabad Parade Ground as the International Kite and Sweet Festival is set to kick off here on Tuesday.
The event, which will be launched by Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao at 4 pm, will witness international participation, with 40 professional kite flyers from 19 countries joining 55 national flyers representing 15 Indian States.
Visitors can expect massive and uniquely designed kites soaring the sky, with night kite-flying sessions as well, during the event being organised by the Telangana Tourism department from January 13 to 15.
Further, the department in collaboration with Culture Language Indian Connections (CLIC) is organising the sweet festival, featuring 60 stalls where women from various States, including Punjab, Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala and Maharashtra, will display and sell traditional homemade sweets. In addition, 100 stalls have been allotted for handlooms and handicrafts to promote local artisans.
The department is also hosting a hot air balloon festival at the Parade Ground from January 16 to 18 between 4 pm and 9 pm. A two-day drone festival will also be held at the Gachibowli Stadium on January 16 and 17, featuring displays from 9.30 am to 8 pm.
