Hyderabad: Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker said all possibilities should be explored for mutual investment opportunities between Boston and Hyderabad and stressed on the need for tie ups of life sciences and pharma companies.

This would aid in research and development, besides inventions in the sector, he said, adding there were many similarities between Hyderabad and Boston.


Like Hyderabad, many life sciences, pharmaceutical companies, IT and Technology companies were functioning in Boston, he said during a meeting with Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Friday.

He participated in the Global Innovation 2022 Healthcare At A Glance summit, Boston.

Addressing on the occasion, the Boston Governor said digitization of healthcare records was under progress and this was proving to be very beneficial. During the covid pandemic, this exercise helped in extending faster treatment to the citizens, he said.

Industries Minister KT Rama Rao said programmes to create awareness among both the cities would facilitate in more investments.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister briefed about the health records digitization project being taken up by Telangana Government in two districts on a pilot basis.

“In addition to the life sciences scientists the coordinated effort by IT and Tech sectors data scientists will pave way for more inventions,” Rama Rao opined.

Telangana Government was according top priority for development of different sectors and as a result it was witnessing comprehensive development. It has also become a investment destination for different sectors, he said.

In the wake of increased role of technology in the life sciences and bio sciences, the Minister cited the example of Novartis operations in Hyderabad and explained about the investment opportunities in the city.

Minister Participated in round table conference in Boston

Industries Minister KT Rama Rao said Hyderabad emerged has vaccine capital of the world.

Speaking at the round table conference in Boston, the Minister said Telangana Government was taking up many incentivised programmes in the life sciences sector. Under this initiative, provision of basic amenities on par with international standards, policy decisions, special funding for innovation, special incubator at Genome Valley, were taken up and this was yielding desired results, he said.

“Telangana Government is working with a clear goal of doubling the life sciences and pharma production,” said KT Rama Rao.
