Hyderabad: If you are one of those who is eagerly waiting to get their hands on the newly-launched iPhone 13, then you will have to wait longer than expected. As per a report by Nikkei Asia, buyers of Apple’s new iPhone 13 are facing extended delivery times due to the Covid wave in Vietnam and also due the deployment of a new camera feature.
iPhone 13’s major components are assembled in Vietnam and there is a constrained supply of camera modules from that country due to a new Covid wave spreading in the country. “The company has expanded the use of its new sensor-shift optical image stabilization to all four iPhone models and this has put suppliers in the position of having to ramp up production without jeopardizing production quality, against the backdrop of severe restrictions due to Covid,” the report mentioned.
A simple search on Apple India store reveals that the iPhone 13 may get delivered either by October end or first week of November.
The current waiting time for an iPhone 13 is up to five weeks in China and Japan and almost four weeks in the US, according to the company’s website.
Quoting an executive, Nikkei Asia also reported that there is a supply gap in the inventories of the camera modules and they are monitoring the situation and are waiting for the situation to improve in Vietnam. Due to all this, the production might improve around mid-October.
