IPS South Zone meet opens in Hyderabad, focuses on ADHD research

Hyderabad: The annual conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS), South Zonal Branch (IPSOCON–SZ 2025) was inaugurated at Staff Engineering College, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries and IPS members from across South India on Friday.
On the occasion, president of Indian Psychiatric Society Dr Savita Malhotra, who was the chief guest, spoke about ‘Newer Horizons and Frontiers in Understanding ADHD across the Lifespan’, the theme of the meet.
The senior office-bearer commended the South Zone branch of Indian Psychiatric Society for its initiatives in education, research, and public mental health awareness.
Dr M Umashankar, president, IPS–South Zonal Branch, delivered the inaugural address and formally handed over the presidential medal to Dr. Arul Prakash, the incoming president.
Dr V George Reddy, honorary general secretary, IPS–SZB; Dr P Kishan, CME Chairman, and Dr Narayan Rao, president, IPS Telangana State Branch, and other senior mental healthcare specialists including Dr Y Sreedhar Raju (organising chairman), and Dr Vishal Akula (organising treasurer) among others were present.
