Hyderabad: Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering & Telecommunications (IRISET), Tarnaka, one of the seven Centralised Training Institutes of Indian Railways, specialized in imparting training on Railway Signalling & Telecommunication Systems, will celebrate its 68th Annual Day on November 24.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr V Narayanan, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), and Sharad Kumar Srivastava, Director General, IRISET, and Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, SCR General Manager, will also participate.
The training imparted by IRISET plays a unique role in shaping the careers of Railway Signalling & Telecommunication Engineers. The Institute houses all varieties of Signalling & Telecommunication systems in working order under a single roof, a press release said.
Recruits are trained into the Railway system either through the Engineering Services Examination of UPSC or the RRB selections. The Initial training, spanning around six months, emphasizes the fundamentals of Railway Signalling, telecommunications technologies, safety in train operations, and hands-on exposure in the laboratories.
The Institute has well-furnished classrooms and hostel accommodation within the campus to train around 500 students. It has 11 laboratories in different specializations like Kavach, Outdoor Signalling, Train Detection, Electrical Signalling, Block Signalling, Train Traffic Control, Optic Fibre Cable communication systems, Telephony, Networking, etc.
