Elon Musk founder of SpaceX, who is often in the news, made headlines after being appointed as a ‘Special government employee’ by President Donald Trump for spearheading the United States of America government’s cost cutting and fraud limitation programme Department of Governance Efficiency (DOGE).
However, not many know that his tenure as the Special Government Employee came with a time limit of 130 days.
Now, with the deadline closing in by May end, questions arise on extension of Elon’s tenure. Answering whether his job in the Government is completed, in an interview with Fox News, he said that he has completed majority of the work needed.
“I believe we will have completed the majority of the work needed to reduce the deficit by $1 trillion within that period of 130 days,” Musk said.
“Our goal is to reduce the waste and fraud by $4 billion a day, every day, seven days a week. And so far, we are succeeding…Unless this exercise is successful, the ship of America will sink,” he remarked and added that reducing the government’s spending by 15 per cent is achievable.
The Tesla CEO described his tenure as a historic overhaul of federal spending and added, “At the end of the day, America’s going to be in much better shape. It’s going to be a fantastic future.”
Musk noted that DOGE was a revolution in Government .“This is a revolution. And I think it might be the biggest revolution in government since the original revolution,” he said.
Meanwhile the DOGE website claims that as of March 27, the department saved America $130 billion, which translates to roughly $807 per Tax payer.
