ITC MSK, CII celebrates Vana Mahotsavam at Wyra Gurukul in Khammam
ITC MSK and CII celebrated Vana Mahotsavam at Wyra Gurukul in Khammam by planting 250 native saplings, highlighting the importance of green cover and community involvement in climate action
ITC MSK and CII celebrated Vana Mahotsavam at Wyra Gurukul in Khammam.
Khammam: ITC Mission Sunehra Kal (MSK) in collaboration with its implementing partner ARHEDS celebrated Vana Mahotsavam at Telangana Social Welfare Residential School and Junior College at Wyra in the district.
The event was organised under the guidance of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) of which ITC PSPD was an active member. As part of the plantation drive over 250 saplings of 10 native varieties of plants were planted across the campus to improve green cover and to create a lasting ecological impact, said the ITC DGM (HR) Changal Rao adding that the ITC planned to plant 25, 000 saplings this year.
The CII green landscape committee chairman Anil Kumar Epur, its green business centre executive director KS Venkatagiri, senior counselor Sri Rekha, PSPD DHQ (corporate affairs) DGM Usharani and the Gurukul principal Dr. D Samatha planted saplings.
Addressing the gathering, the guests stressed the importance of large-scale plantation programmes in mitigating climate change, preserving biodiversity and building community-led environmental movements. ITC MSK senior programme manager R. Jayaprakash and the college vice principal K Kusuma were present.
