If the pandemic has taught us one thing it is to be creative. So many of us have lost/left our 9-5 jobs and decided to explore careers we are truly passionate about. To help such people, Edtech platform ‘Clymbe’ has come up with a book which has candid interviews of 100 professionals from 100 different fields. The book – Hey Careers – is a perfect choice for those on the lookout for futuristic careers.
Kakinada-born and Hyderabad-based Kavea R Chavali, an anchor and presenter, is on No 29 of this list of 100 individuals. She is under the Creative Tech category in the book that was launched recently by MP Shashi Tharoor. “I’ve been living in Mumbai for 10 years. I connected with the co-founder of ‘Clymbe’, Rachana Thamankar, at a conference I was hosting. She found what I was doing unconventional and told me about Clymbe creating a book on 100 careers that youngsters can choose rather than engineering and medicine. I told her I would be absolutely honoured to be a part of it because I have a degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from NIT Warangal. And now, after dabbling across industries, I have anchored 1,400 shows across 15 countries and close to 800 brands,” shares Kavea, who has opened for the likes of Mike Tyson, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Irrfan Khan, APJ Abdul Kalam, Bill Gates, Indra Nooyi and Narayana Murthy.
The response for the book has been great, shares Kavea. “The pandemic has given rise to a lot of new careers and given people a chance to look at their plan B. A lot of the readers were surprised to know that anchoring live events is a thing because all they knew was television anchoring. Many didn’t know that there is a career in wine tasting and beer tasting as well,” adds Kavea, who earlier worked in Bengaluru as an anchor at the television channel TV9 before finding her calling.
Kavea has dabbled in acting as well with three years in theatre and a one-episode role in Pushpavalli season 1. She has bagged multiple awards and accolades, some of the significant ones being Rashtriya Samman Award 2012-2013 for the best anchor in India, Voice of Asia 2019, Best Emcee of the year (Corporate events) and Best Emcee (Female) in 2020 by Exchange4media Group.
Kavea has been penning a book of her own since April last year. “It’s titled Mic Check 1, 2, 3 and should be released in a couple of months. Apart from sharing my journey as an emcee, I will be providing an insight on how people can make a career in this field,” shares Kavea, who also has a diploma in Kuchipudi.
“Through my entrepreneurial brand Kalaneca, I work with weavers and ship Uppada sarees across the world,” concludes the multi-talented emcee.
Hey Careers has a total of 107 pages with 100 chapters and is priced at Rs 999. It can be purchased here: https://www.clymbe.com/100-careers-book
