Hyderabad: Former Minister G Jagadish Reddy condemned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s remarks referring to engineering students as “criminal waste”. Holding the Chief Minister responsible for the alleged deaths and food poisoning incidents in Gurukul residential schools, he described Revanth Reddy as the “criminal waste” of Telangana. He demanded that criminal cases be registered against the Chief Minister over the deaths of students.

Speaking to mediapersons, Jagadish Reddy said that even illiterate parents want their children to pursue higher education. He said the previous BRS government had established nearly 1,000 Gurukul schools, apart from hundreds of higher education institutions, to ensure quality education for students in Telangana.

“The same students have scaled mountains. Today’s Gen Z youth are capable of achieving more. They will give a fitting answer to Revanth Reddy for his irresponsible statements,” he remarked.

He also accused Revanth Reddy of misleading the youth in the name of reducing the minimum age for contesting legislative elections from 25 to 21. He said such a decision was not within the purview of the Chief Minister and instead suggested that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi make such a proposal in Parliament.
