Hyderabad: Amid the ongoing rift between the ‘original’ Congress leaders and turncoats, TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy urged the Congress high command to recognise the services rendered by former Minister T Jeevan Reddy to the party.

Of late, the former Minister has been highly critical of the State leadership on several issues, particularly regarding outsiders from other parties, who he said were suppressing leaders loyal to the Congress for years and depriving them of opportunities. He was upset with the State leadership for failing to offer B Forms to loyal leaders while according top priority to turncoats.

During the municipal elections, he reminded voters about A Revanth Reddy’s statement, when he was the TPCC president, that leaders who defect to other parties should be stoned to death. On the contrary, Jeevan Reddy urged voters to use their votes as a weapon and hit back at turncoats.

At this juncture, TPCC working president Jagga Reddy took many leaders in Gandhi Bhavan by surprise after appealing to AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan to ensure Jeevan Reddy gets the respect he deserves in the party. Though he received several political offers, Jeevan Reddy remained loyal to the Congress and stood by the party for 10 years even while serving as an Opposition MLA and MLC, he said in a statement to the AICC in-charge.

“Due to some factors, he could not win as MLA in the 2023 elections. But as he is going through a tough phase, I appeal to Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud to ensure Jeevan Reddy gets the respect he deserves and initiate some measures accordingly,” Jagga Reddy said.
