Hyderabad: The family of a 45-year-old farmer, Pudukarapu Venkateshwarlu, resident of Arapet, Jagitial district, have donated his organs under State-run organ donation initiative to needy patients.

On May 26, the farmer met with a road traffic accident while travelling on a two-wheeler and was shifted to a local hospital and then to Hyderabad for medical care.

Despite the efforts of the treating doctors, he was declared brain dead by a duly constituted panel of medical experts as per the prescribed protocol.

His wife P Haritha and daughter Sahiti consented to donate his organs through the Jeevandan – Cadaver Organ Donation Programme, enabling three patients suffering from end-stage organ failure to receive a new chance at life. Both kidneys and the liver were donated.

Jeevandan expressed gratitude and respect to the donor’s family for their selfless decision during a time of immense personal loss.
