Jagtial: Unable to tolerate frequent thrashing by her father, a 12-year-old girl approached the Jagtial police and lodged a complaint against her father.
Refusing to return home, the girl, a native of Sriramulapalli of Gollapalli mandal, said she was disturbed after the death of her mother some time ago. Her situation worsened further as her father, who remarried, started harassing her with regular scoldings and thrashings. She was also admitted to different social hostels like the Bala Sadanam, Ananda Nilayam and the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya as well. However, she had returned home since she could not adjust in those institutions. This is said to have enraged her father further. Five days ago, she left home and was found in Vemulawada. The district child protection staff, who found her in the temple town, shifted her to the Sircilla Sakhi Centre, from where she was handed over to father.
On Tuesday, she approached the Jagtial Town police and refused to go back home saying she was frequently being thrashed by her father. Moved by the plight of the child, CI Venugopal informed the Jagtial child protection staff, who have shifted her to the Sakhi Centre.
