Jagtial: The issue of selection of the Jagtial municipal chairman has reached Praja Bhavan, with the Congress leadership holding meetings with senior leader T Jeevan Reddy and local MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar.

The selection of the chairman has become complicated as no group within the Congress secured a clear majority. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reportedly engaged AICC secretary Sachin Savanth and district in-charge Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar to find a solution.

Laxman Kumar reportedly held a meeting with Dr Sanjay Kumar on Sunday morning and discussed the selection of the chairman. Jeevan Reddy, who was camping in Hyderabad along with his councillors on Saturday, was asked to come to Praja Bhavan.

Both Sachin Savanth and Laxman Kumar reportedly held consultations with the senior Congress leader on Sunday evening and worked out a compromise formula.

Jeevan Reddy reportedly insisted that the chairman post be given to a leader who had been working for the party for a long time. Both leaders were convinced after reportedly being assured that the chairman post would go to one group and the vice-chairman post to another, it is learnt.
