Hyderabad: The Ministry of Jal Shakti has convened a meeting of the Irrigation Ministers of all the four riparian States of the Krishna river on May 7.

The meeting, to be chaired by the Minister for Jal Shakti, is intended to discuss the gazette notification on the award of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal-II.

The Water Resources Ministers from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been invited for the crucial meeting. The discussion will focus on the report-cum-award of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal-II, which has been a long-standing issue among the States sharing the Krishna river.

The tribunal was established to resolve disputes over water allocation, but has faced delays in implementation due to legal and administrative challenges.

The Chief Secretaries of the respective States have been formally notified and the Ministry has requested the States to confirm their attendance along with details of the delegations. The exercise is aimed at building consensus and facilitating the next steps in implementing the tribunal’s award.
