Jal Shakti Ministry constitutes committee on water management between AP and Telangana

Union Ministry of Jal Shakti has constituted a committee to examine and resolve water sharing and management issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Headed by the Central Water Commission chairman, the panel will submit its report within three months

Hyderabad: The Ministry of Jal Shakti has constituted a committee to address water sharing and management issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The Committee has been entrusted with the task of addressing key issues concerning water management in a comprehensive and technical manner and to study the outstanding concerns.

It would also have to suggest viable solutions to ensure equitable and efficient water sharing. The panel will submit its report within three months, an order from the Ministry of Jal Shakti said.


The decision to constitute a committee was taken in pursuant to the meeting held on July 16, 2025 under the leadership of Union Minister of Jal Shakti CR Patil, involving Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Central Water Commission Chairman will head the Committee, while four senior officials will represent from each State. This apart, chairmen of Krishna River Management Board, Godavari River Management Board, Chief Engineer of NWDA and Chief Engineer (PAO), CWC, are members of the panel.

The Committee may also decide inviting officers or experts from other organisations during the proceedings.
