Hyderabad: Scores of people including political leaders and other sections are campaigning for the victory of TRS candidate for Huzurabad by-election Gellu Srinivas Yadav. A physically challenged person, Diravath Mahesh is also one among the supporters who have been camping in Huzurabad for the last few weeks to work for the victory of the TRS candidate.
A native of Lingapur Thanda, Muduchintala mandal of Medchal district, the 28-year-old Mahesh started a campaign in the name of ‘Jana Chaitanya Yatra’ on October 1 and covered 187 villages so far. Touring on his two-wheeler, Mahesh has been educating the people through a public address system about the developmental programmes and welfare schemes being implemented in the State. Besides this, he is also distributing pamphlets for the victory of TRS party.
Mahesh, with his two-wheeler decorated with flexies displaying the welfare schemes and developmental programmes by the TRS government on three sides, is getting a good response from the people in the poll-bound Huzurabad constituency. Impressed by his efforts, some of the people are also taking selfies with Mahesh.
A die-hard fan of TRS working president, Mahesh also got KT Rama Rao’s image tattooed on his chest. He works at a private company in Begumpet of Hyderabad.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Mahesh said that he started the ‘Jana Chaitanya Yatra’ to support the TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav in the by-election since Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was implementing schemes for the welfare of all sections of the society.
Mahesh, who joined the TRS party and participated in the statehood agitation after being impressed by the leadership of Chandrashekhar Rao, says the Chief Minister of Telangana has enhanced the self-respect of physically-challenged persons by hiking monthly pension to Rs 3,016 after the TRS came into power. Moreover, tribal habitations across the State were declared as Gram Panchayats, he added.
