Visakhapatnam: Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary K Ramakrishna urged Jana Sena Party president and film star Pawan Kalyan who claimed that his party was one for struggles, should fight with the Centre for the cause of Visakhapatnam steel plant.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he wondered what the film actor was fighting for. “Is it for the Ambanis and Adanis? Why doesn’t he fight for the cause of the people?” he asked. The CPI leader also found fault with the JSP president for supporting the BJP in the Badvel by election and also not responding to the farmers’ agitation on the Delhi borders. The film actor should stop supporting the BJP at least from now on, he said.

On the Jaganmohan Reddy government, he said that he was at a loss to know why Jagan was unable to stop privatisation of the Vizag steel plant. “Did the YSRCP MPs ever meet the Prime Minister on the steel plant issue? When they are selling government offices and assets, where will they set up the executive capital? It is a pity that they had to mortgage properties for just Rs.140 crore loans. I demand the government to release a white paper on the mortgages it resorted to during the past two years,” he said.
