Sangareddy: Japan Ambassador to India Ono Keiichi said the organisation of Japan Academic Day at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad was more than a meeting of minds, adding that it served as an important link strengthening ties between the academic communities of both countries.

“Through scholarly discussions, joint research initiatives and growing networks, this day reinforces the dynamic and innovative spirit that binds Indian and Japanese academic exchanges,” he said.

Addressing the gathering during the third edition of Japan Academic Day at IITH in Kandi on Tuesday, the Ambassador stressed the need to deepen the exchange of knowledge, students and faculty between institutions in India and Japan.

Director of IIT Hyderabad Prof BS Murty said holding the event for the third consecutive year showed the enduring strength of the IITH Japan partnership in driving innovation and meaningful knowledge exchange. Since 2008, he said the institute had built a deep and productive relationship with Japan. “We sincerely appreciate Japan Science and Technology Agency, Japan International Cooperation Agency and all participating universities for their commitment to advancing educational and research collaboration,” he said.

President of JST Dr Hashimoto Kazuhit also spoke. The event followed the fourth Japan India Universities Forum held at IITH a day earlier, which was attended by heads of 37 Japanese universities and 36 Indian universities. Senior Vice-President of JICA Hara Shohei and others were present.
