Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao said that the Congress government has stopped tourism development works at Rangnayaka Sagar and Shilparamam project at Komaticheruvu.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating BRS Party office in the 29 ward on Thursday, Harish Rao accused that the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has shifted veterinary college from Siddipet to Kodangal leading to denial of opportunities to local students.

Accusing Congress of being jealous over Siddipet development, Rao said that Revanth’s government has taken up no new development works in Siddipet after Congress came to power.

He further said that the local Congress leaders never made any attempt to secure development works to Siddipet town, except criticising BRS and its leadership.

Putting an end to the drinking water issues, the former minister said that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had brought Godavari water to Siddipet by taking up Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS). While Siddipet town was already receiving Godavari water, Rao said that Congress government had now proposed to supply Godavari water to Hyderabad with an outlay of Rs 8,000 crore by drawing water from Mallanna Sagar, built by BRS government. Making Siddipet free from pigs and open drains, he said that the BRS government had built an underground drainage system with Rs 300 crore outlay.

He also exposed Congress government failure in keeping the promises made ahead of assembly elections. Earlier, the former minister also conducted pending panchayat raj road works. He directed the officials to fast-track the works.
