Hyderabad: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, scheduled to be held on July 3, has been postponed. A fresh date for the examination will be announced in due course.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kharagpur, which is organising the test this year, postponed the entrance test for admissions into IITs on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Considering the prevailing pandemic situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the JEE Advanced 2021 which was scheduled to be held on July 3 stands postponed. The revised date of examination will be announced at an appropriate time,” the IIT-Kharagpur said in a notice to candidates on Wednesday.

Earlier, the National Testing Agency (NTA) postponed the conduct of JEE Main April and May sessions. This year, the Union government had decided to hold JEE Main in four sessions. While the February and March sessions were conducted, the two other sessions were postponed due to the pandemic. Candidates who are in the top 2.5 lakh in the JEE Main are only eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced.
