Hyderabad: Several students who appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2021 found the paper-II tough in comparison to paper-I. The entrance test for admissions into various programmes in the Indian Institutes of Technology was smoothly conducted across the State on Sunday. The paper-I was held from 9 am to 12 noon, and paper-II from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
Overall, several candidates found Mathematics tougher compared to Physics and Chemistry subjects in both paper-I and II. This time, the JEE Advanced was conducted for 360 marks with 180 marks for paper-I and II each. A total of 57 questions with 19 questions per subject were asked in paper-I and II each.
“Overall, I found paper-II tougher compared to paper-I. As I am good at Mathematics, I could comfortably answer the questions. Physics questions in the paper-II were tougher in comparison to the paper-I and questions in the Chemistry subject were moderate in difficulty levels,” said Shreya who appeared for the exam at a centre in the city.
Even experts who coach students for JEE said the paper-II was tougher than paper-I.
“Paper-II was difficult. For an average student, it’s a difficult exam. Chemistry subject will decide the best ranks. Those students who score around 18 per cent of the marks may qualify for common ranking list,” said M Umasankar, all India IIT Coordinator, Sri Chaitanya.
“Overall, Mathematics was tougher and physics questions were lengthy. There were less inorganic Chemistry questions in paper-II, while paper I had more organic questions. Paper-II was tougher than paper-I,” said K Krishna Chaitanya, director, Nano Academy.
