Jagtial: Senior Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy has refused to work with Jagtial MLA Sanjay Kumar, reacting strongly to the latter’s statement expressing willingness to work with him. Amid rumours circulating in recent days that Jeevan Reddy was planning to quit the Congress, Sanjay Kumar had stated that he was ready to work with him.

During an informal interaction with media persons in Hyderabad on Monday, the MLA said that nobody wanted Jeevan Reddy to leave the party. He added that he had earlier worked with L Ramana and was willing to work with Jeevan Reddy as well. Responding to these remarks on Tuesday, Jeevan Reddy said the MLA himself was the reason behind his thoughts of quitting the Congress and questioned how he could work with him.

“Does Sanjay Kumar know which party he belongs to? The Assembly Speaker is saying that the MLA is in the BRS. Then, how will Sanjay Kumar, who does not know to which party he belongs, work with me?” he asked, maintaining that there was nothing wrong in working with the Chief Minister for the development of the constituency and recalled that in 2014 he had met the then Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for development works.

However, he said it was not appropriate to interfere in the internal affairs of the Congress party. He said he had been associated with the Congress for the past 40 years and maintained that nobody, including himself, had opposed his thoughts of changing the party.

Stating that he was still in the Congress, Jeevan Reddy said that not only flexis, everything would change once he decided to quit the party.
