Jihad accused sentenced by Hyderabad court in 2001 case

Hyderabad: A local court sentenced Abdul Aziz, accused of terrorist activities in 2001, to 16 years of imprisonment in a case related to criminal conspiracy and anti national subversive activities in the guise of Jihad.
Aziz was charged with procuring firearms and ammunition and explosive substance materials with the intention to sabotage and blowing of government installations. The court imposed fine of Rs.26,000 on him as well.
In August 2001, the Hyderabad Task Force had nabbed Aziz along with his associates Mohd Nissar and Abdul Hadi at Mehdipatnam in possession of firearms, live ammunition, detonators and fake passports.
Further investigation revealed they had the intention of sabotage and blowing up of government installations, thereby to create terror and promote enmity among communities.
The Hyderabad Central Crime Station police booked a case. The court convicted Mohd.Nissar in 2011 while another accused Abdul Hadi was acquitted in the case.
