Hyderabad: JioHotstar has achieved a paid subscriber base of 20 crore becoming the third largest streaming platform after Netflix and Prime Video.
The milestone achievement is mostly driven by the multi-language coverage of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches.
With JioHotstar becoming one of the most popular video streaming OTT platforms, the competition between the market leaders is intensifying further.
Netflix and Prime Video have already been sharpening their strategies to retain and expand their subscriber bases.
The highly competitive OTT market is believed to be heading for further exapansion, what with the cheap data rates and availability of cheap mobile phones and television sets along with 5G streaming in rural hinterlands too
