Hyderabad: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) is planning to conduct its end semester examinations online. To start with, it is preparing to hold an exam for a fourth-year first semester (end semester) paper of BTech courses online.

The varsity is acquiring software that will assist the authorities in holding the online examinations. The question paper for the subject concerned will be delivered online to student, and using a laptop or desktop or smartphone with an in-built camera, students can appear for the examination at home. The answers have to be written on white paper, and photos of the answer sheet should be sent online. Students having issues relating to laptop or desktop or mobile phone or internet connectivity can reach out to the university on the same but at least two days before the exam. Such students will be allowed to write the exam in the JNTU-H-affiliated college nearest to their home.

To ensure there is no malpractice during the examination, the university will deploy faculty members who will monitor the exam online. Each invigilator will be assigned 10 to 15 students, and they can work from home.
The university is planning to hold this online examination between May 20 and 24, and students will be intimated about the date at least 10 days before the exam. Like earlier, students will get two hours and have choices among the questions in the exam.

Earlier, all the exams of the fourth-year first semester were conducted except one paper due to the temporary closure of educational institutions following the surge in Covid-19 cases in the last week of March.

“As one examination could not be held, we are unable to give the results. So, we are planning to hold the exam online and give the results. Based on the success of this online examination, it will be extended to the fourth-year second end semester examinations if the pandemic does not subside,” a senior JNTU-H official told ‘Telangana Today’.
