Hyderabad: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) – Hyderabad on Thursday denied allegations concerning the conduct of Vice Chancellor Prof. T Kishen Kumar Reddy during a meeting with Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology (VJIT) staff on October 6.
In a statement, JNTU-Hyderabad administration termed the allegations baseless, frivolous and unsupported. “The University believes that the allegations have been advanced with an ulterior motive to harm the reputation of the University and the Vice Chancellor,” it said.
On October 7, two women faculty members filed a police complaint with Kukatpally Police Station against Prof. Reddy, alleging his abusive, derogatory, gender-discriminatory, threatening and intimidating conduct when they went to university to invite him for an event scheduled to be held in the college premises on October 30.
Despite approaching with due respect in an entirely official and academic capacity, Prof. Reddy behaved in an aggressive, hostile and intimidating manner, they alleged.
Responding to allegations, the JNTU-Hyderabad administration said the women faculty members hold significant leadership positions at the university. “In June 2026, the present Vice Chancellor appointed the University’s first woman Registrar. Women faculty members also serve as directors of constituent units, heads of departments at constituent colleges, and chairs of Boards of Studies,” it said.
“The University and its office bearers reserves its right to avail itself of all remedies available under applicable law to effectively protect and defend its institutional dignity and integrity, including in response to materially false, defamatory or otherwise unlawful statements,” it added.
