Hyderabad: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) is all set to commence the academic year 2020-21 for first-year BTech/BPharm courses from December 1. The university on Monday announced the academic calendar for 2020-21 with online classes for first-year first semester students from December 1 to January 23, 2021.

According to the academic calendar, the first mid-term examinations in the first semester will be held from January 25 to 30 followed by the second spell of instructions from February 1 to March 27. The second mid-term exams will be from March 29 to April 6. Students will have preparation holidays and practical examinations from April 7 to 12. The end semester exams in the first semester will be conducted from April 15 to 29.

The classwork for first-year second semester is from April 30 to June 24 while first mid-term exams are from June 25 to 30. Students will have second spell of instructions from July 1 to August 25 and second mid-term exams are from August 26 to September 1, while preparation holidays and practical exams are scheduled from September 2 to 8. The end semester exams in the first-year second semester will be held from September 9 to 22.

Laboratory courses will be conducted once normalcy is restored, the JNTU-H said.

“Already there is a long delay in commencement of academic year for first year students due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As these are professional courses, we cannot reduce the syllabus or the working days. The academic calendar has been issued considering the working days required for the courses. So there will be no summer vacation this time. Moreover, due to Covid-19, the classes will be held online,” a senior official said.

The academic calendar is applicable to all constituent and affiliated colleges of JNTU-H.
