JNTU-Sulthanpur suspends two students for alleged ragging, attack on junior

JNTU-Sulthanpur suspended two final-year B.Tech students accused of ragging and attacking a second-year student. Junior students staged a rasta-roko on NH-161 after alleging that management failed to act on their complaints, prompting the institute to issue suspension orders.

Sangareddy: JNTU-Sulthanpur suspended two final-year B.Tech students on charges of ragging and attacking a second-year student, Ruthvik. As the management failed to respond to complaints filed by the junior students, they staged a rasta-roko on NH-161 at the entrance gate of the JNTU-Sulthanpur campus on Tuesday. As the students refused to withdraw the protest and demanded the immediate suspension of the students, the management acceded to their demand.

Principal Viswanth Raj, who came to meet the protesting students, read out the suspension orders issued by him. Final-year B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) students Karthik C and Mahadev Tej were suspended from the institute. He said they would not be allowed into the campus or pursue their studies until further orders were issued. The juniors relented following the suspension orders.
