Hyderabad: A job aspirant was cheated by an unidentified person to the tune of Rs 2.5 lakh promising a job in a reputed IT firm, police said here on Thursday.
According to the police, the victim from Punjagutta became friends with one Shravan on Facebook, who promised to arrange for a job, claiming he had good contacts with the management.
“The victim who fell for the sweet talk, deposited Rs 2.5 lakh in instalments into various bank accounts provided by the fraudster,” an official said, adding that after the money was received, Shravan switched off the mobile phone.
Based on a complaint, the Hyderabad Cybercrime police have booked a case and are investigating.
