The deceased, Venkatesh, a resident of Mallemdoddi village, had been married to Padma for eight years. The couple, who have three children, were reportedly engaged in regular disputes over domestic issues.
In the early hours of September 11, Padma is said to have poured hot oil on Venkatesh while he was asleep at their home. Hearing his screams, locals rushed him to the district government hospital. As his condition worsened, doctors advised that he be shifted to a hospital in Kurnool.
Despite treatment, Venkatesh succumbed to the injuries on Monday evening. Police arrested Padma and, following investigation, produced her before court, which remanded her to judicial custody.
