Hyderabad: Calling on corporators and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party to do what they could to be part of the city’s developmental process, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday said development should happen without getting mired in political differences.
Exhorting the Opposition corporators to get their national leaders, including Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, to get the Centre sanction Rs.10,000 crore for the city’s development, including for the Musi Project and nala development works, Rao said the BJP’s leaders including Kishan Reddy would be felicitated if they managed to get the funds from the Centre.
Pointing out that even as the State government was revamping stormwater drains with Rs 1,000 crore, the Union government was yet to sanction even a rupee as flood relief for the city, Rao said the Centre, being a ‘bigger government’, could chip in with double the share for whatever developmental work the State initiated.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Strategic Nala Development Programme works in Bandlaguda, Nagole, the Minister also said the proposal to set up a Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences in LB Nagar constituency was approved. The facility would be inaugurated within 18 months once the issue related to the Kothapet Fruit Market was resolved, he said.
The TIMS in LB Nagar would mean that the people of the region would not have to travel all the way to Gandhi Hospital or NIMS for healthcare, he said, adding that apart from such facilities, a series of flyovers and underpasses were built with Rs.672 crore while the stormwater network drain network in the constituency was being revamped with Rs 103.25 crore.
The Minister, who earlier inaugurated the Bairamalguda Left Hand Side Flyover and LB Nagar Right Hand Side Underpass, was accompanied by Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi, Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd Chairman and LB Nagar MLA Sudheer Reddy.
