Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior MLA T Harish Rao said the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election was not just about one seat but a battle to protect Telangana’s integrity, welfare and future. He accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of turning Telangana into a State of corruption and deception in just two years.
Addressing a BRS meeting in Rahmatnagar of Jubilee Hills constituency on Monday, Harish Rao said Telangana, which was once a model for development under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao‘s leadership, had been reduced to chaos under the Congress. “When Telangana launched a scheme, the entire country followed it. Now, under Revanth Reddy, the State has become a tale of corruption and collapse,” he said.
Accusing the Congress of abandoning its six guarantees, the senior legislator said Revanth Reddy signed bond papers promising to implement them in 100 days, but none were fulfilled even after 700 days in power. Instead, the Congress government was demolishing homes of the poor under the guise of HYDRAA. “Voting for him would only mean approval of this bulldozer politics,” he cautioned.
He slammed the Congress government for demanding 12 per cent commissions for clearing finance bills, 40 per cent on land transactions, and charging an additional Rs 75 per sq.ft as bribe for building permissions. “If KCR built Telangana as a model State, Revanth Reddy has turned it into a corrupt State,” he said.
Former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav reminded that all major development in Jubilee Hills, including double-bedroom houses and free water, was done during the BRS rule. He warned that a vote for the Congress would encourage the government to hike tariffs on essentials including power and drinking water.
In an emotional address, BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha vowed to fulfil her late husband Gopinath’s vision by serving the people of Jubilee Hills constituency.
