Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday handed over the party B-form to Maganti Sunitha Gopinath, the BRS candidate for the Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll. He also gave her a cheque for Rs 40 lakh on behalf of the party towards election expenses.
On the occasion, the children of late Maganti Gopinath and Sunitha, along with former Ministers P Sabitha Indra Reddy, T Padmarao Goud, MLAs Kaleru Venkatesh, Mutha Gopal, former MLA Nalamothu Bhaskar Rao among other leaders were present.
Nomination on Wednesday
Sunitha will file her nomination on Wednesday between 11 am and 1 pm. With the official notification issued, nominations for the bypoll are being accepted from 11 am to 3 pm daily.
According to party sources, the BRS leadership has decided to keep the nomination process low-key, with only four representatives accompanying Sunitha during the filing. The move comes as the party aims to maintain focus on ground-level campaigning rather than ceremonial displays.
With less than one month left for polling on November 11, the BRS has also finalised plans for a massive rally in Jubilee Hills on October 19, intensifying its campaign. Senior BRS leaders, including KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao, are expected to station themselves in Jubilee Hills over the next few days to spearhead campaign operations. The party, which currently holds the seat, is determined to retain its position at any cost.
Party leaders said Sunitha’s victory would serve as a fitting tribute to Gopinath, who was known for his close connection with the constituency. The BRS has already begun door-to-door outreach and ward-level meetings across Jubilee Hills, highlighting welfare schemes initiated under the previous government and attacking the Congress regime for failing to fulfil its promises.
