Hyderabad: A day after his remarks suggesting that Congress might not come to power and he might not get elected went viral on social media, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said his comments were misinterpreted by opposition parties.

Addressing a gathering at Boath in Adilabad on Thursday, the Minister had said it was tough to predict victory in elections.

“Even if a party wins the elections, it is uncertain that it would form the government and fulfil the promises made to the people. Hence, I will not give any assurance or promise things,” Krishna Rao said in a video circulating on social media.

However, the Minister clarified that his remarks were twisted by the opposition.

At a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Krishna Rao stressed that he had not made any promises to people during elections all these years but had worked with conviction.

“I contested elections seven times and won six times. People elected me due to my commitment and good work. This is what I had said, but the opposition twisted my comments,” Krishna Rao clarified.
