Just 500 days left for BRS’ return to Telangana’s helm, declares KTR; warns of Congress rigging polls
BRS working president KT Rama Rao predicted the party’s resurgence within 500 days, asserting that K Chandrashekhar Rao’s comeback as CM was inevitable. Addressing a massive rally in Jubilee Hills, he accused Congress of misrule and warned against poll manipulation
Hyderabad: Upping the ante against the ruling Congress ahead of the Jubilee Hills bypoll, Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao on Saturday declared that the political resurgence of the BRS in the State was just 500 days away.
Addressing a massive gathering of supporters as part of a road show held at Rehmat Nagar in the heart of Jubilee Hills, he said former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s comeback to power was not just a hope, but an inevitability for which the countdown had begun.
The rally, part of BRS’ aggressive campaign push for the bypoll, drew huge crowds. Paying emotional tributes to the late MLA Maganti Gopinath, Rama Rao called for a grand stadium to be built in his name at SPR Hills, where a piece of land worth Rs 500 crore to Rs 600 crore was saved by the late MLA.
“Two years of Congress rule are over, and their temporary five-year power is crumbling. Just 500 days are left for KCR to make a comeback as Chief Minister!” he declared, eliciting roars from the crowd. Urging supporters to view the upcoming polls as a fight against betrayal, he said Chandrashekhar Rao was destined to restore the State’s glory once again. Recalling the 2023 elections where Rehmat Nagar delivered BRS’ highest majority of over 5,750 votes, he expressed confidence in repeating the script this time.
“The overwhelming response here indicates we will secure a 12,000-vote majority this time. In Hyderabad, we could win big, but we fell short in some districts last time. Now, we’re correcting that,” he said, crediting the constituency’s resilience.
Hailing Gopinath for his development initiatives, including protecting valuable land and bolstering infrastructure at SPR Hills named after the parents of P Janardhan Reddy, he said Gopinath had ensured development and welfare for his voters. Chandrashekhar Rao stood by his family like a true head of the household, he said, recalling how Maganti Sunitha, Gopinath’s widow, welled up with tears at SPR Hills, struggling to contain her grief.
Stating that Congress leaders were exploiting such personal tragedies for politics, he zeroed in on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s recent threats to withdraw benefits from BRS voters in Jubilee Hills. “If you do so, the people of Jubilee Hills will certainly teach you a lesson,” he warned.
“Revanth Reddy threatens to withdraw benefits. But what benefits has he offered to withdraw? Are you getting the one tola of gold each? Did you get the scooters promised? The Rs 2,500 assistance to women?” he asked, to which the crowd responded with a resounding “No!”.
“Did you get the Bathukamma sarees, Christmas gifts, KCR kits, 20,000 litres of free water per household? Two lakh jobs, where are they? There are many promises to recall,” he pressed, calling Revanth Reddy’s regime a nightmare for the poor in Hyderabad.
Dismissing doubts over Congress’s impending rout in Jubilee Hills, he predicted that the ruling party would certainly lose its deposit. “Revanth Reddy is certain of defeat here. His power is temporary,” he said, also citing multiple surveys that pointed to an overwhelming victory for the BRS.
Warns voters of Congress’ sinister designs
Drawing a stark contrast between the golden era of Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership and the dismal state of affairs under Revanth Reddy today, Rama Rao urged voters to reject what he called a regime of broken promises. He also sounded a caution to voters of an impending poll rigging plan by the Congress, which he said was ready with sinister designs.
Stating that the November 11 election victory would unfold the historic process for reclaiming Telangana’s dignity, he recalled BRS’s proactive infrastructure push under Chandrashekhar Rao, especially during the Covid pandemic.
“Over 42 link roads and new roads were built in the State right in the heart of the crisis. The newly formed State was facing a crisis in power supply and drinking water supply, but we addressed them all, swiftly and effectively,” he said, adding that Revanth Reddy was plunging Telangana into regression.
“Today, the State’s performance on all fronts is dismal. We are facing power cuts that left families in the dark, and children are in crisis in Gurukul schools. Key sectors of the state, that emerged as our pride under BRS, are subjected to neglect and are now crumbling,” he said, questioning the rationale for continued support.
“Revanth Reddy is planning to rig the polls with impersonation tactics. You should be careful. Do not let them steal your voice,” he cautioned, calling on BRS cadres to mobilise voters against such manipulations.
