Hyderabad: The Chairman of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety (SCCoRS), Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre, directed officials to ensure zero fatalities on Telangana roads during a road safety committee meeting held in the city on Wednesday.

Justice Sapre said there is a need to strengthen enforcement and preventive measures to curb accidents and work towards achieving zero fatalities on Telangana roads. He called upon all stakeholders to intensify initiatives to reduce accidents and save lives.

RV Karnan gave a PowerPoint presentation on safety measures and said the GHMC has completed lane markings on 1,687.76 km of roads, zebra crossings at 3,949 locations, transverse bar markings at 3,453 locations, and installed 3,335 signages. For pedestrian safety, GHMC laid 212.71 km of footpaths and proposed 23 FOBs, of which 15 have been completed and the remaining are in progress.
