Hyderabad: Agasara Nandini, who clinched the heptathlon gold at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship, has been appointed Sports Advisor to the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) in recognition of her outstanding achievements.
The 21-year-old, who also secured a bronze medal in heptathlon at the 2022 Asian Games, joined the TSWREIS long-term coaching camp in 2019 under the mentorship of Dr R S Praveen Kumar, with additional support from the State Government, including cash incentives.
Interestingly, Nandini’s admission was facilitated via a wildcard, thanks to Dr Rama Laxman, the then Sports Officer, who played a crucial role in her entry into the programme.
During the tenure of Mr Ronald Rose, IAS, TSWREIS signed an MoU with the Pullela Gopichand Academy to nurture exceptionally talented athletes like Nandini.
The athlete expressed her gratitude to Dr Alugu Varshini, IAS, for facilitating her appointment as Sports Advisor, and shared her vision to strengthen sports infrastructure and mentor emerging talent within the society.
