Hyderabad: Multiple World Cup gold medallist and ace archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam was felicitated by SLBC Convenor of Andhra Pradesh and FGM of Union Bank of India (Vijayawada Zone), Mr. C.V.N. Bhaskara Rao, in Vijayawada on Friday.
Vijayawada Regional Head M.V. Tilak was also present during the visit to Surekha’s residence.
Mrs. Priyanka, Bank Manager, and Surekha’s father V. Surendra were also in attendance.
“It is a great honour to meet someone like Surekha, whose latest achievement of winning two silver medals and a bronze (in compound bow), besides setting a world record in the mixed doubles event at the recent World Cup Archery Stage IV in Madrid, is a reminder that she continues to be India’s biggest medal hope for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where the compound bow event is being introduced,” Mr. Bhaskara Rao said.
For her part, Surekha said she would continue to work hard and stay in contention for bigger achievements. “Though the Olympics is three years away, it will be great if I stay focused, keep winning medals, and realise my ultimate goal of an Olympic medal,” she said.
