Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao took a sharp dig at the Congress government for its alleged firefighting attempts to minimise the humiliating damage suffered in the Kancha Gachibowli land issue and also defend its actions.

Referring to the social media posts and videos by several influencers, Rama Rao said the Congress reportedly hired hundreds of social media handles to orchestrate rhetoric that the government was right in bulldozing Kancha Gachibowli lands. “I hope the crores of money for this nonsensical stunt is being paid by Rahul Gandhi and not by the Telangana exchequer,” he remarked.

After drawing flak at the national level for clearing the greenery in 400 acres of land at Kancha Gachibowli, the Congress reportedly engaged several social media influencers and YouTubers to spread misinformation on the protests. Numerous posts surfaced on social media countering the videos and images of the flora and fauna as well as the destruction caused, shared by University of Hyderabad students, environmentalists, and other netizens.

Following the Supreme Court’s intervention, the campaign was paused abruptly only to resume on Saturday supporting the Congress government’s decision to develop Hyderabad city and its plans to use the revenue generated through land auction for infrastructure development.
