Hyderabad: When Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra tweets, people sit up and take notice, and on Wednesday, he had a one-liner that said it all about Telangana being a hot investment destination. If Anand Mahindra’s tweet spoke about Telangana’s potential in the industry, Under-Secretary of the United Nations Erik Solheim’s tweet on greening efforts provided the icing on the cake.
“A project code named K2 in the land of KTR – how can it not succeed?” Anand tweeted after Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) president Hemanth Sikka posted a tweet on his visit to the company’s state-of-the-art tractor plant in Zaheerabad. “Delighted to visit Tractor Mahindra plant in Zaheerabad #telangana world-class tractors being produced in this plant, ready to be exported across the world. Our team is excited & looking forward to our most ambitious K2 project coming in #telangana,” Sikka tweeted with a picture of his visit.
Responding to Sikka’s post, Rama Rao tweeted: “The ambitious K2 project is something we are looking forward to as well Mr Sikka. Thanks for your expansion in #Telangana and continue support, Anand Mahindraji.” The new tractor series K2 will be exclusively manufactured at the Zaheerabad facility and is Mahindra’s most ambitious light-weight tractor programme.
The new tractor series has been developed through close collaboration between the engineering teams from Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery of Japan and Mahindra Research Valley. It has four platforms and the company will introduce 37 models in various horsepower (HP) ratings for domestic and international markets including the US, Japan and South-East Asia.
Meanwhile, Solheim who regularly appreciates the efforts of the State government on the greening efforts, said in a tweet: “Making motorway intersections green is no simple task. An intensive green drive has been taken up in Telangana including all intersections, medians and sideways. Well done, @KTRTRS and @TelanganaCMO.”
