Hyderabad: Most are familiar with the song ‘Kacha Badam’ and its singer/composer, Bhuvan Badyakar who became an overnight success after his song went viral on Instagram.
West Bengal’s peanut vendor is suddenly the state’s biggest celebrity. He was recently invited to perform his catchy composition in a 5-star restaurant in Kolkata. We can see the audience singing along with him and cheering him in this video.
However, there was a discussion on social media about him getting his due as a creator on Instagram. People argued that the music label that turned his song into a trending reel by adding music to it should pay him for his creation.
Post the internet outrage, Gopal Ghose of Godhulibela Music announced that they are paying the singer-composer a sum of Rs. 3 lakh.
In addition to the money, Badyakar has been honoured by the West Bengal police department. A remixed version of the song with Badyakar has also been released as a music video, which is available on YouTube.
