Warangal Rural: The management of the Kakatiya University (KU), Warangal, is considering setting up a Post Graduate (PG) college at Narsampet town in the district with a view to provide higher education to students in rural areas.
As part of this move, a team of academicians including Prof Thallapally Manohar, Dean, College Development Council (CDC) and Executive Council (EC) member, Prof Mallareddy, Principal University Engineering College, and EC member, Prof Varalakshmi, Principal and Department of Commerce, KU, inspected the Government Degree College (GDC) premises at Narsampet on Wednesday.
GDC Principal, and EC member, Lieutenant Dr B Chandramouli has submitted a memorandum to the team appealing to the varsity to set up the PG college. Local MLA Peddi Sudharshan Reddy also met the team and promised to provide all the required facilities to run the PG college. He reminded that the Narsampet was witnessing rapid development since the TRS party had come to power.
“A 250-bed government hospital is in the tendering stage. On the other hand, an auditorium with a seating capacity of 800 is coming up in the town. It can be used by the PG college whenever required,” he said, adding that he would strive to get the teaching and non-teaching posts sanctioned for the PG college by convincing the Chief Minister and the higher officials.
“You (KU) should start the college by introducing the job oriented courses,” he suggested. Dr Chandramoili said that the Academic Senate and EC of the KU should approve the proposal and hoped that the varsity would take a decision in favour of setting up the PG college at Narsampet.
