BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar said that in order to extend support to poor parents, Chief Minister K Chandarshekhar Rao introduced Kalyanalaxmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes.
Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar informed that Kalyanalaxmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes were introduced to bring light into the lives of women from the poorer sections of society.
The Minister was speaking after distributing Kalyanalaxmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheques to beneficiaries at a programme held in the Collectorate conference hall here on Tuesday. A total of 629 beneficiaries received Rs 6.30 crore worth cheques.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamalakar said that in order to extend support to poor parents, Chief Minister K Chandarshekhar Rao introduced Kalyanalaxmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes. “Telangana is the only State to have such a novel scheme. Before State formation, successive governments failed to even conceive of such a scheme,” he said.
Earlier, poor parents used to perform marriages of their daughters by borrowing money from private money lenders. However, the situation has changed after State formation, the Minister said, adding that the government was also providing Rs 13,000 financial support to pregnant women who go in for delivery in government hospitals.
To provide quality education to students, the government has established Gurukulam schools and is spending Rs 1.20 lakh on each student per annum.
Kamalakar appealed to women to bless the Chief Minister with a long life since the latter was always concerned about the poor and introducing several schemes for the welfare of all sections of the society.
Water troubles of the farming community were solved with the construction of Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.
Talking about the Haritha Haram programme, Kamalakar appealed to the people to raise plants in a big way to provide a pleasant atmosphere to future generations. Everybody should plant trees in front of their houses and take steps to protect them by offering water every day.
Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Kothapalli Municipal Chairman Rudraraju, MPP Srilatha, MPTCs, ZPTCs, counselors and others participated in the programme.
Gangula flays Eatala for neglecting Jammikunta
Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Tuesday came down heavily on former Minister and BJP leader Eatala Rajender for neglecting Jammikunta municipality. The Minister, who toured in the Huzurabad constituency, participated in party works meeting held in Jammikunta. On the occasion, Congress counselor Mulugu Pranitha joined the TRS in presence of Gangula Kamalakar.
Addressing the meeting, Kamalakar opined that the condition of Jammikunta municipality was in bad shape due to the negligence of Eatala. He alleged that there were no proper roads in the town. “Locals had elected Rajender as MLA for six terms from Huzurabad constituency and he also worked as Finance, Civil Supplies and Health Minister for seven years. However, the former Minister had done nothing all these years. Instead of developing Jammikunta by sanctioning funds from Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Eatala neglected the area. When the former Minister met the Chief Minister, Eatala never discussed the development of the constituency. He used to discuss his personal issues. Before Telangana, the situation in Karimnagar was in bad shape. However, Karimnagar has been developed on all fronts, thanks to the Chief Minister for sanctioning funds.” Jammikunta will be developed on par with Sircilla, Siddipet, Karimnagar and Warangal, the Minister said.
