Kambalapally ZP school to receive NCERT national award
DEO ESS Sharma, (FAC) Headmaster S Vishnu Vardhan and teachers of the school appreciated the efforts and hard work of the project coordinator and physical science teacher
Mahabubabad: The teaching and learning project proposal of the Zilla Parishad Secondary School, Kambalapally, in the district, was selected for the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) national award under Innovative Practices and Experiments in Education for Schools and Teacher Education Institutions 2021.
Speaking to Telangana Today, project coordinator Dr V Gurunadha Rao said that the main objective of the proposal was to study “The Effectiveness of ‘7E’ Learning Cycle Model and Simulations on High School Students Understanding and Motivation in Physics Concepts”.
“The proposals from the schools are evaluated at two levels. The first evaluation is done at the Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Mysore, while the second is done at the NCERT, New Delhi, by experts independently to determine the merit of the proposal,” he said, adding that only Kambalapally school project proposal from Telangana was selected for award.
Gurunadha Rao said that the project coordinator would be invited to present the final project report at a national seminar to be organised between February and March next year.
“In today’s science curriculum the constructivist approach as a teaching methodology is being implemented in the classroom with an objective to provide the students ample opportunities to construct their own knowledge rather than becoming a passive absorber of science concepts. One of the constructivist approaches is the 7E learning cycle model which has given due importance to the concept of transfer of learning which is an essential component in science education. Conceptual understanding, which permits one to transfer an explanation of a phenomenon in different ways, is clearly a goal in science learning. One way to achieve conceptual understanding is using 7E Learning Cycle Model and simulation,” he explained about the proposal. Gurunadha Rao said that their project won the national award in 2017-18. “This is for the second time, our project was selected. We are the only school to get this credit from Telangana,” he added.
Meanwhile, DEO ESS Sharma, (FAC) Headmaster S Vishnu Vardhan and teachers of the school appreciated the efforts and hard work of the project coordinator and physical science teacher.
