HYDERABAD: Triggering a new controversy, Congress leader from Nagarkurnool Mallu Ravi on Saturday alleged that North Indian students, especially those from Gujarat, studying in the University of Hyderabad, were unable to stomach the development in Telangana and were conducting a false campaign over the Kancha Gachibowli lands.

“Cases will be booked against all those who are involved in such campaigns,” Ravi said at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, also declaring that if need be, the university would be shifted to the proposed Fourth City.

Towards this, lands would be allotted and buildings would also be constructed for the university. In addition to the 400 acres at Kancha Gachibowli, another 1,500 acres would be utilised for developing an eco-park, he claimed, adding that the same was reported in newspapers.

Stating that the University of Hyderabad did not fight in court and that it was the State government that had fought for those lands, he said after winning the case, the State government was taking possession of the lands.

“Unfortunately, a false campaign is being run on social media platforms,” he claimed, also alleging that a few persons were uploading morphed pictures of deer and other wild animals getting hurt in the university lands. The same were being shared on social media platforms to mislead people, he alleged.
