Kumram Bheem-Asifabad: The annual three-day-long Kankalamma-Koutheshwaramy jatara concluded at Koutala mandal centre on Monday. Around 10,000 devotees belonging to several parts of the Kumram Bheem-Asifabad, Mancherial districts and neighbouring Maharashtra thronged the shrine and performed special prayers by forming serpentine queue lines for darshan of the presiding deity. They have arrived at the religious place using different means of transit such as trolleys, auto-rickshaws and bullock carts. The mandal headquarters has come alive with the presence of the devotees.
The annual carnival commenced on Saturday and the presiding deities of the shrine appeared as Lord Shiva and His consort Parvathi on the second day. Thirumala Thirupati Devathanam presented silk clothing to the deities on Monday. About 20,000 devotees of the district and neighbouring State swarmed the shrine located on a hillock and took part in the religious affair. The temple priests performed final oblations to mark the conclusion of the celebrations. Cultural progammes were also organised on Sunday night enthralling audiences. Sulva Kanakaiah, the temple governing council chairman, Shivaram, a seer of Madhura in Uttar Pradesh and Koutala Mandal Parishad President B Vishnath, Chintalamanepalli MPP Dubbula Nanaiah and many others took part in the fete.
