Hyderabad: If there’s one thing common about most of the superhit Telugu films of recent times, it is that the leading actresses are from Karnataka!

Don’t believe us? What about the highest-grossing Telugu film ‘Pushpa’? The leading lady Rashmika Mandanna has become the most sought-after actress pan-India after her performance in the blockbuster film. Even the latest hit ‘DJ Tillu’ star Neha Shetty is originally from Bengaluru. While Mangaluru-based Telugu actress Anushka Shetty started this trend, let’s take a look at the latest list of actresses we have compiled.


Pooja Hegde

Pooja Hegde is not only the favourite casting option for most Telugu filmmakers, but the actress attracts a huge fan-following as well. Tagged as one of the most reliable actresses of the current generation, Pooja has delivered superhit Telugu films like ‘Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava’, ‘Maharshi, ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’, ‘Most Eligible Bachelor’ and is currently awaiting the release of ‘Radhe Shyam’ opposite Telugu film industry’s Darling Prabhas. Pooja, who hails from a Tulu-speaking family from Udipi, Karnataka has the Chiranjeevi-Ram Charan starrer ‘Acharya’ in her kitty as well.

Rashmika Mandanna

It is a known fact that the National Crush of India Rashmika Mandanna is a sweetheart of the Telugu film industry. After winning hearts with her performance in ‘Geetha Govindam’ opposite Vijay Deverakonda, the actress went on to star in blockbuster films like ‘Dear Comrade’, ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’, ‘Bheeshma’ and ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. Rashmika’s ‘Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu’ with Sharwanand is currently running in the theatres and the actress will begin shooting for ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’. Rashmika was born in Virajpet, a town in the Kodagu district of Karnataka.

Krithi Shetty

Krithi Shetty may be just 18 years old, but the actress is making a mark in the Telugu film industry with hits like ‘Uppena’ opposite Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Vijay Sethupathi, and ‘Bangarraju’ with Akkineni Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya. She also made her presence felt in the successful Telugu film ‘Shyam Singha Roy’ starring Nani and Sai Pallavi. The Mangaluru-based actor is now shooting for the upcoming film ‘Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali’ opposite Sudheer Babu, and has signed on to appear opposite Ram Pothineni in ‘The Warrior’.

Neha Shetty

Born in Mangaluru, Neha Shetty won the Miss Mangaluru title in the 2014 contest, and also she was the first runner-up in the 2015 Miss South-India contest. She recently turned heads with her performance in ‘DJ Tillu’ opposite Siddhu Jonnalagadda. ‘DJ Tillu’ emerged as the first successful Telugu film of 2022.
