Siddipet: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths of Karimnagar district arrested a police officer on the charge of accepting a bribe. Shockingly, the officer accepted the bribe through a UPI mobile application, leaving ample evidence of his corruption activities.
Sub-inspector of Police at Siddipet three-town police station, Vurlugonda Venkateswarlu, worked as station house officer of Mustabad police station in the neighbouring Rajanna-Siricilla district until recently. During his tenure, Venkateshwarlu demanded Rs 20,000 from a person for releasing a sand-laden lorry that was seized by them on February 28, 2026.
Finally, they struck a deal for Rs 15,000. The victim’s friend sent the amount to police constable B Satyanarayana through Google Pay, which the constable in turn sent to the sub-inspector through the same UPI app. The ACB officials took the accused into custody and produced him before the court on Monday.
