Karimnagar: Additional police force was deployed at different mass gathering areas such as vegetable, chicken, mutton, fish markets and supermarkets to enforce lockdown norms of maintaining physical distance and wear face masks.

Since the people were gathered at vegetable and non-vegetarian markets, police bosses deployed additional force on Sunday. Besides cops, volunteers were also engaged to monitor the situation.

While Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Redy monitored the situation in the town as well as rurual divisions, Additional DCPs G Chandramohan (Administration) and P Ashok (town division) visited vegetable and meat markets in the town. CP examined the vehicle checking process in different places.

Kamalasan Reddy, in a statement, advised people to wear face masks and maintain physical distance besides following doctors’ instructions to check the spread of Coronavirus.

Asking the people to follow lockdown norms, he said people can come out during the time of relaxation and purchase vegetables and other essential commodities from nearby markets where the rush was less.

People should show valid documents if they come out on emergency work, he said, and added that police and volunteers have done an excellent job in maintaining physical distance at different markets.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,081 cases were registered while 1,551 vehicles were seized since the imposition of lockdown on May 12.
