Karimnagar: An agriculture scientist from Karimnagar, Dr Kalvala Shekhar, was awarded his PhD degree.
The degree was handed over to him at the 56th Convocation of Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University held at Rajendranagar in Hyderabad on Monday. His research focused on management practices to reduce excess phosphorus in the soils of the North Telangana zone and on cultivating maize and groundnut crops on raised beds using bed planters.
The experimental studies demonstrated that these practices can significantly reduce crop losses for farmers during periods of heavy rainfall as well as under low soil moisture stress.
He is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar.
